The PHEBUS 2002 Solar Rally

This third rally involving solar powered vehicles in southern France: the “Rally PHEBUS 2002”, took place
 


from May 17 to  May 20,   2002.



This rally covered various road and montain conditions from Mont-Louis in the Pyrenees to the city of Toulouse, in three days and six stages. The mostly downhill (but sometimes uphill) route went by beautiful mountain sites, 800 year old Cathare castles and roman cathedrals, as well as high-tech solar concentrators.

Solar energy is, as allways, the motto of this race.  All vehicles were solar powered, either sun racers by on-board panels, or converted electric vehicles recharged  from the grid tied PV stations along the road. Two-whells vehicles participated also

The organizing committee of the "PHEBUS 2002" Rally  consists of people from :

ENSEEIHT   National Polytechnic Institute of Engineering, Electrotechnology, Electronics, Computer Science, Hydraulics and Telecommunications.

Centre Energies Renouvelables Phébus Ariège   a non-profit organization involved in renewable energies.
