I am Director of Research (DR1) at the French Research Council (CNRS) where I was hired in January 1997, employed at the Institute of Research in Astrophysics and Planetology of Toulouse.

On the scientific side, my research is centered on the analysis and the interpretation of X-ray data collected by space observatories from X-ray binaries.

My main activity is now the building of the X-ray Integral Field Unit (X-IFU) for which I am the Principal Investigator (PI). The X-IFU will fly on board the Athena X-ray Observatory, a cornerstone mission of the European Space Agency. Athena is planed to be launched at the start of the 2030s.  

Je suis Directeur de Recherches (DR1) au Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) en poste à l’Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie de Toulouse (IRAP), rattaché à l’Université Paul Sabatier et l’Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées.

Mon activité de recherche est centrée sur les astres compacts (trous noirs et étoiles à neutrons) que j’étudie principalement à partir des observations X et gamma.

Mon activité instrumentale est désormais focalisée sur la construction de l’X-ray Integral Field Unit dont je suis le responsabile scientifique (PI). Le X-IFU embarquera à bord de l’Observatoire X Athena de l’agence spatiale européenne et devrait être lancé au début des années 2030.
