Estimations of the rate in the
BGO-blocks of SPI
Cosmic-ray protons, electrons, alphas and cosmic diffuse gamma impinging
of the INTEGRAL observatory induce rates in the BGO blocks of the
SPI-anticoincidence system. These rates have been estimated with GEANT/GCALOR
code and an accurate model (MGEANT) of the INTEGRAL observatory (see also
Jean et al., 1998, in "Proceedings of the third INTEGRAL workshop", submitted).
The figure below shows the rate as a function of the BGO-block position
and the impinging particle types. Rate in the plastic scintillator is also
shown.
